If you’re a lover of a good pie - this one’s for you.
Pies are no joke for us kiwis. Every year, NZ Bakels run the New Zealand Supreme Pie Awards, where pies of all flavours are judged and awarded based on how tasty and well-made they are.
The categories range from the classic mince & cheese, to potato top and even cafe Boutique, and everything in between, where gold, silver, bronze and highly commended winners are crowned.
And now - NZ Bakels have launched an interactive map, called The Great Pie Hunt, where you can hunt down the country’s award-winning pies based on where in NZ you are, or where you’re road tripping through this summer.
NZ Bakels managing director, Brent Kersel says: “After we announced the winners in this year’s Pie Awards in July, people from all over New Zealand, even tourists, went to find the winning bakeries and taste their champion pies. That’s a while ago now and some pie fans may have forgotten the locations of those bakeries.
“So from the beginning of December, you can go to www.piehunt.nz and click on our interactive NZ map that will take you to all those scrumptious pies.”
The interactive map has pins all over New Zealand where the award winning bakeries are, and there’s also a search button where you can search by location, or by award.
