As the long-awaited return of the Netflix hit show 'Squid Game' approaches this month, 100 Pink Guards were spotted marching through Auckland CBD — and we know why.
Just after 7am this morning, Auckland Reddit users shared pictures of the pink marchers making their way to take over Takutai Square in Britomart.
“What in the squids?!” asked one person.
“There’s something fishy about this,” another commented.
Turns out, they’re actually not planning to steal a few Kiwis for the games, instead, they’ve bought the games to NZ.
If you’ve ever watched the show and thought you’d absolutely crush your opponents at the marble comp, now’s the time to bring your A-game.
Spark NZ have recruited ‘Squid Game’ superfan Matt Gibb and the pink guards to put your skills to the test to win some themed prizes.
So, if you see people sweating it out like it’s life or death down at 50 Albert Street, don’t panic…
That said, Spark has put a trip to Sydney on the line for the lucky winner, including entry to the Squid Game: Live Experience at Luna Park. IDK about you, but I’d be taking that prize pretty dang seriously.
I mean we’ve all seen those YouTube videos and clips on social media of people taking on iconic challenges like Red Light, Green Light, and Memory Steps. Honestly, I’m definitely cocky enough to think I’d be as successful as Player 456.
Right, I’m off to test my marbles, and hopefully not lose them when I find out I’m not actually the best.
I’ll just have to live vicariously through the next players in Season 2, dropping on December 26th.
