'Revolutionary' or a 'crime'? 'Fairy snag' twist on sausage sizzle causing uproar

Who came up with this?

A new food trend that makes a mockery of the humble saus-in-bread is going viral for all the wrong reasons.

Taking inspiration from an episode of Aussie kids cartoon 'Bluey', someone has wrapped a sausage in fairy bread and posted it online, prompting a wave of horror and awe.

The combo has divided people online with some loving the idea of the ‘fairy snag’, and others calling it “a crime”.

“So after watching the new Minisode ‘Butlers’ I had to try it. A fairy-bread sausage sandwich,” the poster said, adding: “It was actually pretty good 😂.”

“What is this chaos?!” someone asked.

“Please don't do that lol that's absolutely messed up,” another added.

A third agreed: “The two should be separate 🤣 fairy bread is one thing then sausage sanga is another.”

Others came to the defence of the sweet and salty fusion.

One person wrote: “Okay, that sounds awesome!”

“My son gave it a taste test and approved it,” another mum said.

Another called it a “Bunnings revolution.”

In the episode where the Facebook user drew their inspiration, Bluey dreams up a “fairy bread sausage sandwich” with specific requests like no orange sprinkles and sugar-free T-sauce.

Aussie breakfast TV show 'Sunrise' were surprised with their own IRL 'fairy snag', complete with a good helping of sauce.

But things quickly went awry as the hosts took a bite.

Host Edwina Bartholomew was game enough to give it a fair shot, but her face quickly turned to horror as she gnawed into the RAW saussie.

"I will eat anything... but that is not cooked," Eddy said, spitting out her mouthful.

While she wasn't a fan, her co-host didn't mind it at all.

Honestly, the sight of it gave me the absolute ick, but now I’m low-key tempted to take a bite - as long as it's cooked to perfection.

What do you reckon? Is this a game-changing snack or just plain wrong?
