Here's what NZ police had to say about the viral video of cops pole dancing on a call out

Kiwis are loving it.

A security video of two NZ police officers having a bit of fun on duty has gone viral - but their bosses aren't happy.

The footage from earlier this year was shared on Reddit last night, titled '2 NZ Police officers seen on camera dancing on a stripper pole'.

The video has racked up 656 upvotes and over 100 comments, with many praising the officers for having a bit of a laugh on the job.

“This heals me, I'm glad they are having some fun on the job. Must be so hard being a cop,” said one commenter.

“I'd rather be in a country where police act like real humans,” another agreed. “As long as nobody's being harmed and nobody's missing out on emergency services, let them play with the pole, who cares?”

A third simply said: “So, they're human. Got it.”

We reached out to New Zealand Police to verify the video. Acting Superintendent and Auckland City District Commander Sunny Patel said in a statement: “Police have been made aware of this video, which shows two members who were on duty at the time in June 2024.”

An investigation is ongoing into the conduct of our staff. There are very clear guidelines about what is acceptable behaviour while on duty.

“While I can’t comment on the specifics of any investigation or employment process, I can advise one of those members left the Police prior to the video coming to our attention. The other member remains on full duties,” they added.

What do you reckon? Was this all a bit of harmless fun or way too far?
