New Zealand has snagged the crown for being able to manage the working life hustle, as well as letting our hair down for a bit of fun.
According to Remote, NZ is the place to be if you wanna maintain a fab work-life balance.
Not sure if we Kiwis would say the same, but we'll take it! If we're talking balance, the time spent responding to work emails probably equals the time I spend on the couch watching MAFS, Love Island, or any TV show to avoid cooking dinner each night.
Thankfully, Remote didn't just look at Kiwis' screen time or the number of email signatures. They actually looked at things like minimum wage, sick leave, maternity leave, healthcare, public happiness, and LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
Each country was given a 'work-life balance' score, and NZ came out on top with a whopping score of 80.76/100.
Here are Remote's ten best countries in the world for work-life balance:
1. New Zealand (80.76) 2. Ireland (77.89) 3. Denmark and Belgium (tied at 73.45) 5. Canada (72.75) 6. Germany (71.84) 7. Finland (71.55) 8. Australia (71.35) 9. Norway (70.85) 10. Spain (70.6)
No big surprise since NZ also claimed first place in Remote's 2023 list! They reckon it's because of our high minimum wage and "generous" annual leave allowances.
Forbes also named Auckland in the top five cities for work-life balance in their own study last year.
The City of Sails was rated with an overall score of 62.7 for its "relaxed and friendly atmosphere, making it a comfortable and enjoyable place to live and work."
Now, how can we get it closer to that 100 mark next year? I'm keen to negotiate a 4-day workweek! Who's with me?
