Air New Zealand’s new safety video says it’s 'game on' between Steven Adams and a bunch of Kiwi rangatahi.
In the video titled 'Every Point Counts', Steven takes on a group of Kiwi kids in a friendly basketball game.
The NBA player transports them from their local court to the big leagues, as we see classic safety instructions play out on the court.
Stowing your bag under the bench, fitting the oxygen mask while taking a breather on the sideline, and reviewing the game plan on a device switched to airplane mode are just a few of the clever incorporations.
The video features a whole bunch of familiar faces, including TikToker Theo Shakes in the crowd, sports commentator and The Rock radio host Andrew Mulligan doing what he does best - commentating the tough match - and comedian Tom Sainsbury as both the referee and the kids’ coach.
Plus, there’s a special cameo from Steven’s sister, Olympic legend Dame Valerie Adams.
She steps in during the final seconds to save the game…for the kids! Ah, good old sibling rivalry, eh?
Steven says starring in the safety video was an honour, especially because he got to feature alongside his sister.
“It was awesome to be part of a project that involved young people and the community. It was fun to have Val in the video too. As a younger brother, at first, I was like ‘man get out of my video!’ but it’s cool to do a family collab.”
It was a special moment.
This year marks the 23rd Air New Zealand safety feature, which will play in-flight all around the world on the airline starting today.
