You know the excitement when your favourite artist finally releases that single they’ve been teasing for months?
Well, that’s how I feel about McDonald’s latest menu drop.
The Grimace Shake has finally landed in New Zealand after going viral on TikTok and I couldn’t be more excited after waiting for what felt like 75 years.
When the shakes arrived at our office, I got a fright as I had NO idea what flavour the Grimace shake could be.
Check out our reactions and reviews in the vid below:
It's bright purple with whipped cream on the top - quite jarring to the naked eye at first, but also kinda aesthetic?
After putting my full trust in my gag reflex and taking a sip, I was greeted by what I can only describe as a berry wonderland.
Grimace himself said that he “made mYumm shake with allll my faVe things like summa rainboWz, happi sMiles and Kiwi kindNess” which, like...ok? But what FLAVOUR IS IT?
Bethan from our office thought she could taste “lemony sort of flavours” and said: “the cream tastes really good with it”.
Bella likened the taste to “a blueberry muffin” that she’d “100% buy again”.
Both Maddy and Bethan drank their shakes in under 5 minutes in a fit of euphoria. They would recommend the novelty drink to a friend, but would not recommend drinking it quite so quickly.
It was an absolute winner for some of us, while others "had a lot of feelings" about not being able to place the flavour.
Jayden called it “underwhelming”, but that’s what you get when something is super hyped.
If you want to give the Grimace shake a try for yourself, they’re now available at all NZ McDonald’s restaurants, but only for a limited time.
And guess what? If you don’t like it, at least you can say you’ve tried the global sensation for yourself x
