Taimate Angus Breaks New Ground In US Beef Market

"It's just very cool," says Hickman, reflecting on a dream realized after 25 years in the making.

In a groundbreaking move for New Zealand breeders, Taimate Angus has successfully sold 120 semen straws from its prized bull, Taimate Roy R38, to the United States.

This achievement marks the first time an Australasian bull has entered the competitive US beef industry, bringing global exposure to New Zealand's beef sector.

Paul Hickman from Taimate Angus shares the journey of strategic planning and the invaluable connections with Musgrave Angus and the late Lindsay Jones that led to this milestone.

Hickman describes the venture as "a pat on the back" for New Zealand breeders, emphasising the significance of introducing fresh genetics into a protectionist market.
