After an incredible two-year stint back on the station that kickstarted his radio career, our very own funny man Paul Ego is leaving The Breakfast Club.
Paul announced the news on the show this morning, sharing that he has been blessed to have worked with The Breakfast Club.
“I’m extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to work for MoreFM for the second time in my radio career. I'm really blessed to have been working with Adam, Lana, Speedy, and Bondy. They're the kindest and funniest people I have ever met”
While he might be stepping back from the mic, it won’t be the last we see or hear of Paul. We all know and love him for his iconic character as the Pak'nSave stickman, and his hilarious appearances on 7Days.
Paul's journey with More FM began in the late '90s and early 2000s when he worked alongside Jeremy Corbett and Kim Adamson on the Kim & Corbett breakfast show.
He was welcomed back nearly 20 years later, stepping into Gary McCormick’s spot and joining Lana Searle and Adam Percival on More FM's Breakfast Club.
At the time, Paul said: “I found myself getting quite emotional, talking about coming back to More FM. It really does feel like a bit of a homecoming personally."
In August last year, Paul celebrated More FM’s 30th birthday milestone. He reunited with his former team of Jeremy, Kim, and newsreader Hilary Barry to celebrate on-air for the first time since their 16 years as the voices Kiwis woke up to every morning.
Paul’s connection to the show goes way back to when he first joined as a part-time writer, contributing to the Millennium Moments series, before becoming the show’s producer.
We’re wishing Paul all the best on his next step. You can catch his last show on More FM next Friday
"It's time to let you guys get on with it"
