Kiwi singer-songwriter Mitch James has released a brand new song just in time for Mother's Day, that could require a few tissues while listening to it.
Chatting with Lana, Adam & Paul on the Breakfast Club, Mitch speaks about his journey from being signed with a label in Australia to now being an independent artist and able to release the songs he enjoys most.
Performing his new song, 'Mumma and Me' inspired by his mum, he described the song as "something in there for everyone".
"It's for anyone who has been on a journey with their mother, or a young child who wants to look out to the future"
To add to the emotion, Mitch gave his mum the most incredible surprise by telling her she was going to watch the premiere of his video, but "jokes on her, because she is the video."
After walking into a building in Dunedin blindfolded, Mitch revealed to his mum that he was performing his song to her alongside the Dunedin Orchestra.
In the video called 'Mumma and Me (Dunedin Symphony Orchestra Version)', his Mum holds back the tears while Mitch is performing
One comment on his video sums the song up nicely, "You have made all us mums so very happy and what a beautiful way to say happy mother's day! Mitch this song is a winner, well done!"
