Ticketmaster is set to cancel around 50,000 resale tickets for Oasis' UK reunion concerts, while the Australian government is taking steps to prevent the same.
The band's promoters, Live Nation and SJM, told BBC that it will cancel all tickets for the band's UK dates listed on unauthorised secondary platforms.
When tickets for the 2025 Oasis reunion tour went on sale, fans were told they could only purchase tickets at face value through Ticketmaster or resale partner, Twickets.
The band's promoters said this was done in order to combat price inflation and prevent ticket touting.
A spokesperson said: "These terms and conditions were successfully put in place to take action against secondary ticketing companies reselling tickets for huge profit.”
“Only four per cent of tickets have ended up on resale sites,” they added. “Some major tours can see up to 20 per cent of tickets appearing via the major unauthorised secondary platforms."
Australia’s Victoria Allan Labor Government is cracking down on scalpers, officially deeming the Oasis ‘25 reunion a “major event” earlier this month.
The reunion concert will be protected by anti-scalping laws, ensuring fans looking to buy resale tickets won’t get hit with outrageous markups.
Resale tickets for the gig can’t be listed for more than 10 percent above their original price.
If scalpers are caught trying to get around the laws, charging huge amounts, they could find themselves copping a hefty fine.
“We’ve declared their Melbourne concerts as major events to make sure fans can see the Gallagher brothers live at a fair price,” said Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos.
We have a very clear stance on ticket scalping – do not resell tickets to concerts at inflated prices because you will be fined.’
According to Ticketmaster, cancelled tickets in the UK were purchased using techniques that have been forbidden for the Oasis tour. Those include purchasing more than four tickets per household, per show, and using multiple identities to buy tickets.
A fan has reacted to the 'brutal' move.
"Over 50,000 Oasis tickets set to be cancelled in brutal resale move... Oh dear, how sad, what a shame 😄," they wrote on X.
All invalidated UK tickets will be made available again through the official seller, Ticketmaster, at face value.
The Oasis Live '25 tour kicks off in Cardiff on 4 July 2025 and Australia dates start with their Melbourne show on 31st October 2025.
