New Zealand First MP Mark Patterson is getting ready to gear up this weekend, swapping politics for the pitch in a charity rugby match to support Cyclone Gabrielle relief efforts in Gisborne.

The Parliamentary XV, which includes Patterson, is set to face off against the Federated Farmers XV in a game that's less about the scoreboard and more about community spirit and recovery support.
