One US mum has switched up the TV shows she allows her toddler to watch and has noticed a HUGE difference.
TikToker Olivia - @ollyverthewino - says she will only show her toddler shows and movies prior to the year 2000 from now on, swearing its the reason her son’s behaviour has “drastically changed”.
“I saw some TikToker posting how they switched to older shows for their kid, so I did the same,” Olivia captioned her video.
Within 24 hours, she noticed her son was reacting well to shows like ‘Big Comfy Couch’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’.
“He stopped screaming all the time and has been enjoying playing more with the show on, as like noise in the background,” Olivia added.
Other parents are on board with the change, with one writing: “We’ve started this too, a few months ago and they LOVE the 90s movies and shows.”
A second chimed in: “I noticed my kids actually sit and are more at peace.”
“As a teacher, I definitely recommend this,” another agreed. “These older shows have better themes as well, like kindness and empathy, and are less over-stimulating.”
Someone else even tested the waters, saying: “I did the opposite to see how my son reacted. Took him from older shows to newer. in an hour he was nuts.”
Many believe it’s due to the speed of newer content created for kids like the colourful and playful show ‘Cocomelon’.
“It’s the frames per second , higher frames they say is bad for kids. Older shows have lower frames per second,” one commenter claimed.
So, while many agree, I’ve gone through and grabbed a list of some of the most recommended shows parents are showing their kids prior to the early 2000s.
