Kiwi actor Manu Bennett shares 'horrendous' x-ray of 'nearly severed' hand

The actual photos from the accident that crushed his bones were too graphic for social media.

'Spartacus' star Manu Bennett has been making thousands cringe at an x-ray of a dune buggy injury that “eviscerated" his hand.

Also known for playing Azog the Defiler in ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, Manu's hand looked as though it had been through a "bear trap" following the accident, which happened in Dubai back in October.

While the photographs of his hand were deemed “too graphic” for sharing on social media, Manu settled for his x-ray results.

“Given so many friends have asked here is an X-ray of the multiple fractures to my hand caused when it was crushed by the roll bar of a dune buggy as it flipped,” he wrote.

Pretty much like a bear trap, my hand was eviscerated through the middle.

“[I’m] extremely lucky that my tendons remained intact during the heavy crush. I'm indebted and forever thankful to the staff at Rashid Hospital, Dubai & my surgeon ‘The Maestro’ Dr Nebosjka, who literally saved my hand,” he added.

“It could have been a lot worse and I truly count my blessings.”

Manu also shared an image showing off some of the stitches in his hand following surgery.

He wrote alongside the picture: “I've come to truly appreciate the body God granted me & how vulnerable any of us are to losing these gifts and this greatest gift of life.”

Manu's mates and fans have been shocked by the extent of his injuries, sending well wishes and marvelling at the extreme amount of damage his hand took.

“Oh good glory that looks so painful 😮 wishing you a speedy and full recovery,” said one commenter.

“First thing I see on Instagram this morning 😭 warning woulda been nice,” another wrote. “but hope you have a speedy recovery 🫡.”

A third added: “The pains of being mortal 😢 I hear you.”

So many of us have a gnarly x-ray or two in our medical records, but very few of them are so bad you almost FEEL them just by looking. Glad Manu is on the mend!
