Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better… Electric Avenue, New Zealand’s biggest one-day music festival, will become a two-day event in 2025 – staged in Hagley Park on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February.
HOLY. HOOF. Strap in.
Two heavy-weights of the UK’s electronic dance music scene will headline next year’s’ biggest party in Australasia.
Taking the stage on Saturday 22 February will be early pioneers of electronic music, The Prodigy, who formed in 1990 and are back on top form playing major festivals around the world.
Meanwhile our mates Chase and Status have top billing on day one, Friday 21 February. They’ve enjoyed recent success in the UK with their No 1 hit single Backbone featuring Stormzy, as well as scooping Producer of the Year at the 2024 Brit Awards.
Other big names among the 20 international artists are Wilkinson, The Kooks and Rudim3ntal, plus Texas psych-funk trio Khruangbin – currently heralded as one of the USA’s finest live acts.
Aussie acts include Tash Sultana, Peking Duk and Empire of the Sun, who are returning to New Zealand shores for the first time in a decade. Most of the internationals will be performing exclusively at Electric Avenue.
All up over 50 artists will perform across four stages. Fair to say there’s a fair few.
