Revitalising Kairuru Farm: Amanda Henderson’s Journey + Community Spirit

“We collaborate with the Tuck Hill Biodiversity Group to maintain a natural balance with the Abel Tasman National Park," Henderson highlights.

Fourth-generation farmer Amanda Henderson shares her journey alongside her husband, managing and revitalising her family property Kairuru Farm on Takaka Hill.

One of the biggest changes she identifies is the transition from traditional sheep and beef breeding to focus on hardy Red Devon cattle, which are well-suited to the challenging terrain.

Henderson talks about her role as the Beef+Lamb NZ Extension Manager for Tasman and Marlborough which allows her to blend her passion for agriculture with community engagement.

She emphasises the importance of connecting farmers with essential tools and resources to optimise their operations.
